Celebration of Justice - 50 years

client: Chinese for Affirmative Action

role: cinematographer, photo editor, graphic designer, co-editor, co-animator

Along with my production partner, Kevin Wong, I was involved in all aspects of this project from conception to final delivery including designing and editing the pitch deck, communicating with stakeholders throughout the process, and archival research, in addition to typical shooter/editor duties.

A Leader Who Will Beat The Virus

client: Asian Americans Against Trump

For the 2020 presidential election, I helped create an 30-second ad laying out how the incumbent’s response to the novel coronavirus failed Asian American communities. In addition to English, deliverables included versions with VO and on-screen text translated to Korean, Cantonese, and Mandarin with both traditional (TW) and simplified (CN) script.

Working with a senior editor in New York, I was responsible for animating archival images, selecting and adding other visuals, placing music, as well as some color grading and sound editing.

Marriott Renaissance Long Beach Hotel

client: Marriott

role: editor, videographer

I shot and edited a set of promotional video highlighting "Business Unusual" lifestyle of the hotel and eclectic local area. Crip Camp

client: Netflix/Higher Ground/Rusted Spoke Productions

role: photo editor

For this feature doc, I retouched archival images in Photoshop. Work ranged from simple spot removal to restoration and repair of poorly digitized files, physically damaged prints, and imperfect original photography.

Los Ojos de Victor

client: self-produced

role: director of photography, location sound, editor

This minidoc was created as proof-of-concept for an expanded project on community artists in Cuba and around the world. I was enlisted primarily for location recording but ultimately helped guide the directors through the process or making their first short film. After rough translation of the interviews, I wrote and assembled the initial cut then worked remotely with the NY-based director as well as side-by-side with the Oakland director.

This mood video was created for a pitch package from footage I captured during a research trip in Borneo for The Canopy, The Stream, and The Sea, a feature screenplay I co-wrote.
